As Paul is the pattern of believers, we find that through the term “we”, Paul knew that God loved him before the world began. We also see that Paul lived in an ungodly, sinful, and depraved state prior to his regeneration and change in his soul. Paul was also born by the immediate direct new birth through the Holy Spirit. Paul was not born again by the gospel, but he was born again by the direct voice of Jesus Christ.
