In the parable of the good Samaritan, we see a man with no strength, no ability to help himself out of his fallen condition. This reminds us of our spiritual state of no strength, dead in trespasses and sins, and no ability to redeem ourselves from our fallen condition. It took an unsuspecting character – similar to this maligned, unsuspecting Samaritan – to show compassion on us to lift us up out of the ditch and set us on a Rock.
