Parable of the Ten Virgins – Covenant & Betrothal

The Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from 7-16-2017.  Text from: Matt. 25:1-10

In conclusion of the parable of the ten virgins, we examine the covenant and betrothal agreement that the bridegroom had made with the bride and her father.  In the Jewish marriage and betrothal custom, the bridegroom would agree beforehand for the care and provision of the bride and that was an unalterable agreement that the bridegroom was bound to uphold.  This gives us a beautiful picture of God’s eternal covenant of marriage with His elect bride; a covenant that will never fail, that God will never forsake, and will be perfectly completed based on the fidelity of the bridegroom, Jesus Christ.
