The Gospel of Grace Radio Broadcast from 7-02-2017. Text from: Matt. 25:1-10
When we understand the Jewish customs that were the context of Jesus’ parable to the ten virgins. In Jewish marriage customs, it was the bridegroom who chose the virgins to wed and to marry, not the virgins choosing the bridegroom. Therefore, in this parable, all the virgins had been chosen by the bridegroom. In the spiritual application, this teaches us of the sovereign, unilateral choosing (election) of God of a people to salvation. Therefore, the foolish virgins blunder to let their lamps go out, had no bearing on God’s sovereign choice of salvation.
