The people of Judah’s response to Jeremiah’s rebukes to repentance were met with the same scoffing attitude that we exhibit many times. They sought out refuge with the world in Egypt instead of trusting God’s promises. Today, we see many false teachings that can entice us to sin – the word of faith, prosperity gospel movement, unbiblical standards such as female pastors, etc. We need to be content to do things God’s way according to his way, not be enticed by apostasy in the world.
