God forbid that we should glory save in the cross of Christ Jesus our Lord. It’s common in Christianity today for someone to believe that some action they performed contributed to them gaining eternal life. When we say “I did ____”, or “when I got saved”, then we are taking away from the glory of Jesus Christ in our eternal salvation. The only source of our glory and boasting in this world is the cross of Jesus Christ, where all the requirements for our eternal salvation were accomplished and finished on the cross.
