How do we reconcile the scriptural doctrine of unconditional election with the statement in John 3:16 that God loved the world? We examine the correct context of “the world” in Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus. Jesus was not speaking of the entire world of mankind without exception, but rather that God loves a people beyond just the Jews, including out of the whole “Gentile world”. Praise God that Jesus loved the entire world of his people, out of every nation, kindred, people, and tongue!
