In the Levitical law, God appointed 6 cities of refuge to protect the innocent man from the avenger of blood. Since 7 is the Biblical number of perfection and completion, we see that the 7th city of refuge is Jesus Christ. Christ is our refuge and protection from the avenger of blood in this world. Christ is our fortress and strong tower that we flee to refuge for protection and safety.
