In the Old Testament law, there is much emphasis on remaining faithful to God’s pattern for marriage and proper sexual intimacy. Much of the law is focusing on punishment for disobeying God’s pattern of marriage, one man and one woman for one lifetime. In the midst of much unfaithfulness to the marriage covenant, we can see Jesus who is a perfect example of the Husband of the church. We need to follow Jesus’ pattern as our perfect Husband who loved his bride of the church perfectly and gave himself for her sins.
