When the children of Israel crossed the Jordan, there was a memorial of stones set up as a reminder of God’s providence and deliverance. This reminds us of the memorial of baptism of entry into the Lord’s church and the kingdom of God. Then, there was another memorial of stones in Gilgal that reminds us of our responsibility to let our light shine in the dark world around us. Both sets of stones are vitally important. Let us pursue Christ in baptism and also let our light shine to the dark world around us.
