This morning we consider the calling of ministers in the church. Men do not sign up to be a preacher, God alone calls who he sees fit to serve him in the ministry. Men are ordained by the laying on hands by a presbytery, not by going to another state to take tests in the ministry. We do not take upon ourselves a name that is reserved for the Lord – such as reverend – instead we take the most prevalent and biblical title, Elder, Pastor, or Bishop.
