While suffering is never enjoyable in the moment, the Lord can bring great benefits and blessings from faithfully enduring suffering. Suffering can give us a testimony and experience to help and encourage others who go through similar or severe suffering. The Lord uses suffering to purify and refine us to great service to God in the future. Jesus Christ’s life was characterized by suffering, so when we suffer, we are more perfectly conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.
