We consider together the stark contrast given us in the allegory between Sarah and Hagar, and their respective sons, Isaac and Ishmael. One child was of the flesh, but the other child Issac was the child of the promise, of which seed the Messiah came. We see the contrast between the natural flesh and the Holy Spirit. We see the freedom of the promised son, and the bondage of the child of the flesh.
